ABOUT MARIS PASQUALE DORAN
Maris Pasquale Doran, LCSW, is a private psychotherapist with over 15 years of experience supporting individuals through life’s complex transitions. She earned her BA in Psychology from Georgetown University and her MS from Columbia University, where she later served as an adjunct lecturer at Columbia University School of Social Work, teaching courses on the healthcare system and mindfulness.
Maris is also the co-author of the New York Times bestselling picture book Piper Chen Sings, a story that explores emotional awareness, self-expression, and the power of personal agency.
With a blend of clinical insight, academic grounding, and personal lived experience, Maris creates space for honest, compassionate conversations about midlife, caregiving, and identity. Her approach is rooted in simple neuroscience, practical tools, and the belief that awareness and intention are the foundation for a present life and an empowered future.
She lives in Maplewood, New Jersey with her husband, two sons, and their beloved supermutt.
